'Dear all,

I pass this information in order to raise interest among those who treat LARP as not only a kind of art, but as a kind of science as well. This realm is dominated (sadly perhaps, from economist's point of view) by humanistic minds who debate mainly on the RPG and it's cultural influences. However, there can be reached serious people of other disciplines as well; who use games for training of business, state administration and universities and use strategic games for that purpose (or LARPs themselves even, as I did).

The title is: "Games' culture creating function".

The main issues that are to be covered by participants' presentations are the role of game and play in the society, use of games in education, research on games and it's methodology, ludology's development perspectives.

I attended the first conference. It was worth the money. This will cost 200 PLN (ca 50 EUR), students 50 PLN (ca 13 EUR). This does not include lodging and accomodation, as these are to be payed by participants themselves (which is relatively cheap in Poznan).

The whole event takes place in Poland, 25-26 November 2006. Deadline for paper proposals is 20 of September. Publication is planned, although I have no idea when and it will most probably be not a California List publication.

More info under http://gry2.konferencja.org but it's in Polish at the moment, so really interested individuals I would encourage to contact me or organizers directly (they do speak English).

{Anmerkung von mir: http://www.larplist.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=860 - der Originalthread mit PN und seiner polnischen HP.}

This is solely an academic gathering, not by any chance a more sophisticated con. I will try to provide here a full material later on, I only put main info at the moment.

Would anybody be interested? I hope to attend this unless I don't find any job until that day (just got fired yesterday - the company didn't make it...)

Best greetings

Kret'

Die Geschichte lernt nie aus sich selbst heraus - doch vermag sie Jene zu lehren, die auch dazu bereit sind, ihr zu lauschen.
